Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by ineffective communication skills, reduced fine motor control, and poor social skills. Autistic people are willing to learn social skills if the individual who teaches them social skills treats them with respect. Since autistic individuals tend to have a strong sense of self, and powerful ego, many autistic people are drawn to powerful psychedelic drugs such as DMT. Other autistic people do not want to change, but many more want to improve their skills just like everybody else. Some people who have autism are drawn to Zen Buddhism for much the same way that they were drawn to psychedelic drugs. An important thing to note is that just because something helps one autistic person doesn’t mean it will help all autistics. People who have autism hate it when other people assume that they are all alike, like they came off of a cookie cutter, and will quickly point out to individuals who think this way that they are unique people and not replicas of each other. The best way to reach an autistic person is to treat them with respect and acknowledge their uniqueness.
